About the opportunity
This is a pivotal senior leadership role within our StarTrack team, based at our Minchinbury Facility, overseeing the Sydney Metro Delivery operations across Botany, Chullora, and Wollongong depots. As Sydney Metro Manager, you’ll lead the integration of delivery operations, drive efficiency, and champion safety, service, and performance across a large, dynamic network. Reporting to the NSW/ACT State Operations Manager and collaborating with Facility Managers, Senior Leadership, and national teams.
What you’ll deliver with us
- Leading and integrating delivery operations across multiple facilities, focusing on safety, service, cost, and performance.
- Drive superior customer experience through seamless service delivery.
- Managing operational activities to achieve network objectives, ensuring compliance with legal and legislative standards.
- Executing network strategies, process efficiencies, and productivity initiatives to deliver operational excellence and outstanding customer experience.
- Lead strategic projects that modernise systems, optimise workflows, and elevate performance.
You’ll also
- Take ownership of outcomes, lead with integrity, and inspire others to do the same
- Stay up to date with industry trends and bring innovative ideas to optimise our processes and safety initiatives
- Drive continuous improvement and compliance with safety programs and new regulations.
- Manage cost of freight (circa $70m) budget, monitor and control freight and operational costs, and deliver value from assets and operating budgets.
- Build strong relationships across the network, influence continuous improvement, and foster a customer focused culture
About you
You’re a strategic, results-driven, collaborative leader with:
- A thorough understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and its impact on operational requirements.
- Highly developed interpersonal, relationship management, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead change, coach and develop teams, and resolve conflict.
- Proven experience in logistics or supply chain leadership.
- Proven experience inbuilding and fostering a diverse workforce for the future, creating an inclusive environment where every team member can thrive.
- Strong operational leadership with a focus on safety, service, sustainability, and accountability.
- Proven ability to lead transformational change and drive continuous improvement.
- A curious, forward-thinking mindset that challenges the status quo.
You’ll also need
- Minimum eight years’ experience in operational management roles.
- Experience in financial cost management,auditand compliance programs, and working in unionised environments.
- Academic qualifications in Management and/or Logistics are highly regarded.
- Exposure to transport operations and change management principles
