Description & Requirements

Help us deliver a better tomorrow
Australia Post is delivering for all Australians. From the vehicles that we drive, to the small businesses that make our communities thrive. We’re delivering for the environment, for our communities, for our customers and for our people. We’re moving forward and we want you to come along for the ride.

About the opportunity

As Senior Manager Commercial Development, you will join our Major Partnerships and Innovation team and play a pivotal role in leading and managing the development of commercial opportunities for our Retail, Brand and Marketing division.

In this newly created role, you’ll be at the forefront of driving innovation by identifying and executing bold, forward-thinking opportunities that align with our 2–5-year strategic vision. Working closely with various stakeholders, you will identify key problem spaces and prioritise commercial opportunities, managing the innovation pipeline, executing lean test-and-learn experiments, and building the capabilities and assets required to support the Retail strategy for eventual transition to BAU functions.

This is a fixed term opportunity until June 30, 2026

What you’ll deliver with us

Your initial focus will be on supporting innovation in our current partnerships and driving growth while simultaneously establishing the foundations of a robust innovation function through the development of tools, governance frameworks, and streamlined processes.

You will champion innovation by clearly articulating its value and impact across the business, engaging senior leaders in decision-making and fostering a culture where creativity and agility thrive across Retail teams.

You’ll also

  • Oversee the development and delivery of initiatives that build critical retail assets or capabilities, driving long-term growth and competitive differentiation
  • Establish a robust pipeline of commercial opportunities by identifying and prioritising strategic problem spaces and arenas that require novel solutions or new capabilities.
  • Design, implement, and refine innovation policies, processes, and frameworks that align with RB&M/AP's strategic goals.
  • Build innovation capability across the Retail business by fostering a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and continuous learning.

About you

You’re a bit of a unicorn, part designer, part rainmaker, part hacker. You think big and explore boldly, with a creative mindset that loves solving problems and shaping possibilities. You’ve got sharp commercial instincts and know how to turn ideas into impact. And when it’s time to bring it all to life, you roll up your sleeves and make it happen - whether it’s through tech, operational simplification, or smart design and execution.

You’ll also need

  • Experience building team and organisation capability in human-centred design, lean startup experimentation and agile delivery
  • Preference for an understanding of market trends and customer behaviour in the retail & freight industries, but not required
  • Capability to build an innovation pipeline that has strong internal sponsorship and is aligned with organisational goals and long-term strategic plans.

How we’ll deliver for you

  • Play a pivotal role in shaping the future of retail partnerships by leading our innovation function and be part of an exciting journey of transformation and growth.
  • Join a vibrant, forward-thinking team that thrives on collaboration, creativity, and continuous learning.
  • We offer a great range of benefits, including a focus on work-life balance & flexibility, career development opportunities, and exclusive discounts through our Post Perks program.
